Our friend Jenny is getting married next month and Genevieve and I were pleased to be invited to her wedding shower. Jenny's wedding will be inspired by the book and film The Princess Bride. Of course I've seen this movie about a thousand times, as anyone 'bout 30+ has. I asked her what her favorite quotes from the film are and she told me this gem: "I will never doubt again. - There will never be a need." And then Vivi and I got to work.
Jenny likes cats, needless to say. Vivi loves to embroider with me. She drew a pattern for herself with washable pen and went to work. She's got the knack, for sure. I won't spoil it by saying that I finished up the cat and the Y. Oops, I spoinled it. But, she's only 5 and attention is in high demand.
I referenced a pattern transfer from a vintage book Jenny gave me. Had I known her wedding flower was a daffodil, I would have embroidered them. These resembled a "Buttercup" to me and I chose jewel tones and a sweet scratchy style. I don't know what it is, but scratchy seems to describe the effect I wanted. Part of a handmade tapestry, maybe. Princess Buttercup would have been a novice, too. I listened to the radio Saturday morning while I worked on this and heard the song "Centerfold" three times. I hate that song.
