What a Feeling

I'm actually feeling really good today.  My sister sent me a link to a great blog by a working mom A Busy Mom's Slow Cooker Adventure.  (Working moms!  I can't believe it - I am one.  Did you know it takes a while to really believe it?  I didn't go through pregnancy or adoption, I went through a different kind of process, but I'm still a Mama.)  Krista mentioned throwing some chicken in the pot, some salsa and fajita seasoning.  I went home for lunch and instead of taking a brief power nap, I covered the bottom of the pot with seasoned diced tomatoes, several frozen chicken tenderloins, and half a diced onion.  As it turns out, I've been cooking quite a bit lately.  Sunday night we had beans and rice - 5 bean mix cooked for several hours with cubed salted pork and onions, last week we had a pork loin with potatoes, we discovered pierogies, and I made an awesome meatloaf and cooked the green beans in new way.  One night we had hamburger helper and apple slices, so it's not like I'm on the list for world's best anything, but I'm improving in my mind and that's so very, very important.  We hung a bulletin board in the kitchen and just putting up a calendar and some relative stuff to the family made me feel good enough to leave the kitchen table half messy.  I'm really thankful for what I have and I am finding the grace I need to let go and let it be.
