A clean slate cannot stay in a clean state for long. The Murphy Oil Soap on the stovetop proves to you that the hardwood was clean and shiny, but the McD's cups and gatorade prove there have been lots of sweaty, long, hot days of hard work, cluttered surfaces, an empty fridge, and bad attitudes. I see the light at the end of the tunnel (the 30 year tunnel) and of course I see blooming gardens, fresh painted rooms, new living room furniture, a comfortable basement, a deck across the back, walking the dog in the park, and so forth and some such. It's going to take a long time.
