I Can't Abide No Doobie Brothers.

Oh, but truly I can. Truly. Much to a certain some one's chagrin.
I have "Takin' It to the Streets" stuck in my head this morning and I must say, I am in a darn good mood because of it. But, doobies aside...

Today we get the keys to the new apartment! I am severely sad to see my old place go, but I am plenty excited to begin a very real, very intense chapter of my life. So much has changed in a wee little year - SO MUCH. It's almost as though I've started a whole new book of a totally different genre, rather than just a new chapter. But some books start to drag and you just have to put them down for a while. I know I will probably be putting that book on the shelf indefinitely and I have very few regrets, if any.

So, just as I've done the past few days, a list is in order. ...Or maybe just a smattering of random thoughts I'd like to share with you.

I want to live in this house as if we'll be there for longer than the six month lease allows. I want boxes unpacked with abandon and chotchkes on every surface. I want that second bedroom to be fully dedicated to the little ones and toys scattered in every room besides. I want a table all my own covered with embroidery stuff. COVERED. I want them hung on the walls. I want to play Wii more often. I want to use my Wii Fit everyday. I want to make dinner and eat at the table in the kitchen. I want to wash clothes in my laundry cubby. I want to put my guest soap, that looks like little piles of poop (really rosettes) because it's old, by the sink. I can't wait to have certain folks come stay in July (McWiggs and Rorschack and T-rent). I want to plant flowers in the beds by the porch. I want to play in the sandbox. I want to put a hole in every wall and hang something by a nail. I want to walk to work and get a bike and ride around downtown every evening. I want to take the littles on walks and have picnics on the Capitol lawn. I want a budget and I want to save money for working on the house we'll be moving to indefinitely. I want to hang curtains.

I think my aspirations of being truly domestic are coming true.
